This beautiful little EP captures its inspiration perfectly without feeling like a "space rock" album, rather having its own sense of depth and journey. It's beautiful and haunting. One of the best post-rock EPs of the year!
Following up their 2019 debut LP Tueri, Rome’s Lai delle Nubi returns with the Dione EP, a duo of new tracks that find them soaring to the next level both sonically and creatively.
Building off ideas first explored on Tueri and using the mission of the space probe Cassini to Saturn as inspiration, the EP touches upon themes of the desire for a home as well as the compulsion to voyage and search, two seemingly conflicting ideas that in actuality co-exist naturally. These compositions take cue from the band’s build-and-release approach to post-rock but presents them in a sharper and more tightly wrapped package.
Where they had previously taken a more relaxed route, allowing their compositions to flow where they may and recording them live in studio, this EP demonstrates an increased commitment to discipline and careful structuring, ensuring maximum impact, with each song unfolding at a focused, thoughtful pace as they wind their way toward gripping crescendos. It’s a testament to the power of well-drawn architecture in post-rock music.
The quieter moments still need to engage consistently, while the emotional swells must deliver at just the right moment; too soon or too late and the arc doesn’t work. Lai delle Nubi have reached a clear understanding of and respect for those nuances with this release.
Dione EP is intended as a precursor to a more extensive collection, and if this peek behind the curtain is any indication, post-rock fans have much to be excited about.

"Their music is classic, atmospheric, guitar-oriented instrumental post-rock. The tracks here are long enough for the music to properly develop and keep the tension as the drum-marching music finishes with effective ending" ENGLISH: https://bit.ly/2FHGCGm Łabandzi Śpiew
Migration Light is as emotionally crushing to the ear as Winter's harshest hail overhead. Yet as beautiful, reflective and lucid as a wondrous world of dreams witnessed through prismatic eyes.
A real album to guide you through the most misty chambers of thought and to bring you out the other side with a fresh sensation of clarity. Highly recommended for the thinking man. N2MB
This is the most amazing post-rock discovery I've had in a long time. How have I not heard of this band previously? I have been listening to this and their other album for days straight after first listen. Amazing, deep, powerful. Words don't do justice. Listen and lose yourself in this. zeuslyone
